Oct. 9: Residential Burglary; Strong-Arm Robbery in Parking Lot

The uptick in crime in Takoma Park continues into October.

Two incidents that occurred Oct. 9 were reported by Takoma Park Police.

1. A home in the 8000 block of Maple Avenue was burglarized between midnight and 8 a.m. Unknown suspects(s) entered the homeowner's vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, and removed house keys that were left in the vehicle. Police believe that the keys were used to enter the residence through the front door. Property was taken.

Police are asking that anyone with information about this crime to call 301-270-1100. The investigation continues under case No. 11050079.

2. Montgomery County Police responded to the 900 block of University Boulevard East at approximately 3:56 a.m. for a citizen strong-arm robbery that had occurred. Police learned that the robbery actually took place an hour earlier in the parking lot of the Tijuana’s Mexican Café, also located in the 900 block of University Boulevard East, and the jurisdiction of Takoma Park Police. The victim was in the parking lot when he was approached by two black males who assaulted him and took property. The suspects fled on foot eastbound on University Boulevard towards the Rite Aid. The victim was not seriously injured.

  • 6-foot black male, 20-24 years old, 180-190 pounds
  • 6-foot-two-inch black male, 20-24 years old, 200-210 pounds, and last seen wearing black clothing with a black hat
