Armed Robbers Accost Man Walking from Takoma Metro

Two suspects dressed in black and wearing face masks confronted the man as he walked home from the Metro.

A man walking home from the Takoma Park Metro narrowly escaped serious injury following an armed robbery on Hodges Lane late Friday.

Takoma Park Police responded to Hodges Lane at Holly Avenue at approximately 9:31 p.m. on Oct. 14 for reports of a citizen armed robbery.

A man was walking home from the Metro, and as he turned on to Hodges Lane from Holly Avenue, he was confronted by two suspects dressed in black wearing face masks, police said.

The first suspect brandished a silver/black semiautomatic handgun and demanded property, police said. The victim began running down Hodges Lane; the second suspect grabbed the victim by his belt, but the victim kept running, dragging the suspect with him, police added.

The suspect released the man, and both suspects fled halfway up Hodges Lane where they got into a later model car, possibly a Dodge Charger (red or gray/black in color), which was being driven by a third suspect, police said.

The suspects drove up Hodges Lane, made a right turn on to Chestnut Avenue and then on to Piney Branch Road in an unknown direction, police said. 

The man was not injured, police said.
