Residents of the multi-family dwelling have been displaced.

A laptop computer wrapped in a blanket caused a fire yesterday afternoon that left residents of a 9-unit multi-family building displaced, Takoma Park Police said.

The fire began on the first floor around 3 p.m. in the 6600 block of Poplar Ave. and spread to the second floor.

Montgomery County Fire Marshall condemned the apartments for the night pending Montgomery County Code Enforcement conducting an evaluation. There were no injuries, police said.
