Holmes Named Officer of Year By American Legion Post

American Legion Post 41 named Cpl. Michelle Holmes of the Takoma Park Police as officer of the year, police said.

Holmes came to Takoma Park from the Baltimore City Housing Police Department, where she spent 13 years as a police officer, police spokeswoman Catherine Plevy said.  

In 2001, she joined the Takoma Park Police Department.  She was promoted to Corporal in 2008, and in 2010, she became the full-time traffic officer. Holmes resides in Howard County with her partner, two children, two dogs, a cat and two ferrets.
