A young girl was seriously injured in a sledding accident Tuesday at Takoma Park Middle School, reports WTOP.
Montgomery County fire officials were called to the accident on a hill behind the school on Piney Branch Road at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to Montgomery Community Media.
There was no school Tuesday because of the latest snowstorm.
Fire and rescue crews had to use several hundred feet of rope to rescue the girl from the bottom of the hill.
“The child had serious, believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a local specialty center,” said Beth Anne Nesselt of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
The girl is expected to survive her injuries.
