Ft. Washington Man Arrested in Takoma Park Express Check Cash Robbery

William Louis Cole is charged with armed robbery, first degree assault, theft over $10,000 and false imprisonment.

Takoma Park Police arrested a Ft. Washington man for the June armed robbery of Express Check Cash in the 1000 block of University Blvd., police said.

William Louis Cole, 39, was charged with first degree assault, theft over $10,000, use of an armored ballistics vest during a crime of violence, false imprisonment and conspiracy to commit all offenses as charged above.

On June 1, around 8 a.m., police responded to reports of a robbery at the Express Check Cash. Two unknown suspects had entered the business forced the victim to hand over property to them. The victim was assaulted, but had no serious injuries.

Cole was developed as a suspect after a five month investigation, but Cole's accomplice is still unknown.

This arrest was a multi-jurisdictional effort between the Takoma Park,
Maryland, Police Department, Prince George’s County, Maryland, Police
Department, Fairfax County, Virginia, Police Department and the Federal
Bureau of Investigations.

Cole is being held at the Alexandria Federal Detention by U.S.
Marshals.
