Former Blair Teacher Charged With Multiple Sex Offenses

Aaron William Murray Lamere, of the 25400 block of Jarl Drive, was arrested Monday for several sex-related offenses.

A Gaithersburg man who previously work at Montgomery Blair High School was arrested Monday for several sex-related offenses, Montgomery County police announced in a press release.

Aaron William Murray Lamere, of the 25400 block of Jarl Drive, was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, four counts of sexual solicitation of a minor, four counts of committing a third degree sex offense, three counts of sexual abuse of a minor, one count of committing a fourth degree sex offense, and two counts of indecent exposure, police said.

Lamere, 39, had worked as a media services technician at until recently, police said.

While investigating a March 14 tip that a Northwood employee—later identified as Lamere—was in possession of child pornography, police received information that three students at the school had been victims of various sex offenses by the former faculty member between Oct. 1, 2011 and Feb. 29, 2012, police said, adding that all of the offenses occurred inside the Silver Spring school.

According to police, Lamere solicited two of the victims for sex via text messages, inappropriately touched two of the victims on several occasions, showed two of the victims images of a naked male on his cell phone, and exposed himself to two of the victims.

Montgomery County Public Schools spokesperson Dana Tofig told Patch in an email Lamere's final day at the school was Tuesday, March 7, when he resigned while under investigation. He was hired in 2003 and worked from 2003-2004 at Blair High School as a paraprofessional before moving to Northwood.

"We have and will continue to fully cooperate with the police on this matter," Tofig wrote in an email. "As soon as concerns about the behavior of this employee was brought to our attention, we removed him from the school."

In a letter sent home to parents Monday, Northwood principal Henry Johnson urged parents that the safety and security of the school's students is of utmost importance.

"I am deeply disturbed by these allegations and concerned for the well-being of the victims in these cases," Johnson wrote. "I know this news is extremely upsetting for our parents, our students and our staff. Counselors will be available to speak with students who are concerned about this matter and we will continue to make them available in the coming days." 

Lamere is currently being held on $150,000 bond and has a bond review hearing scheduled for Tuesday, May 8 at 1 p.m.
