Citizens Get Chance to Train Like Cops

The course will start Sept. 20.

If you want to know what it's like to be a Takoma Park Police Officer then the second session of the Citizen's Police Academy is the adventure for you.

The course is designed to educate citizens on the required duties and obligations of a police officer, and it will provide a glimpse into all aspects of
the city’s police department that make it run smoothly on a daily basis.

Session two will start on September 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. each Thursday night for 12 consecutive weeks. Sessions will be held at the Takoma Park Community Center, and there is no cost to participate, but residents must be 18-years-old and pass a background check.

The session is limited to the first 15 students.  Contact the community policing officer, Carla Magnaye, at carlam@takomagov.org if you have any questions or would like to register.
