There have been six burglaries in a small area of Ward 1 since May 24, Takoma Park Police Chief Ronald Ricucci said at the June 4 Takoma Park City Council meeting.
All burglaries occurred between 8 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. and entry was made through both locked and unlocked windows.

Computers, laptops, jewelry and cameras are being taken.
"They aren't taking costume jewelry, they know what to take," Ricucci said. "These are career burglars."
Ricucci believes the same burglars are responsible for all six incidents and they have yet to leave the small area they've been hitting.
"They haven't left their comfort zone yet," Ricucci said.
Takoma Park Police have increased patrol, plain clothes officers, detectives and undercover officers, according to Ricucci, and have some suspects.
Even with stepped up patrol, police are imploring residents to help.
"Call if you see anything and let police decide if it’s suspicious or not," Ricucci said.
