Burglaries Linked in Takoma Park

Two burglaries occurred Wednesday in Takoma Park.

Takoma Park saw two burglaries less than a mile from each other early Wednesday morning.

Around 1 a.m. on July 11, Takoma Park Police responded to the unit block of Montgomery Avenue for reports of a burglary in progress.

The victim was alone sleeping in her house when she heard footsteps coming from the upper level of the house, police said. She then saw a man by the foot of her bed motioning for her to stay still and be quiet.

The suspect rummaged around the room and then left the room. The victim continued to hear footsteps in the upper level of the house so she climbed out of the house through a basement window and ran to a neighbor’s house, police said.

At around 3:39 a.m. the same morning, Takoma Park Police responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue for reports of a burglary in progress. The victim was woken up by the sound of noise coming from the main level of the house, police said. As he walked down the stairs, he could hear more noise coming from the rear of the deck area and a window in one of the bedrooms was wide open, police said.
