Burglar Uses PETA As Cover

A man who burglarized a house in the 7400 block of Holly Avenue was posing as a PETA advocate and going door to door.

A man posing as a representative for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) burglarized a home in the 7400 block of Holly Avenue Friday Some time between 12:00 p.m. and 12:40 p.m. an unknown subject made entry to the residence and took property.

 A K-9 track was conducted which led officers to Piney Branch Road where the track was lost.  Earlier in the afternoon, units had responded to Holly Avenue and Dogwood Avenue for reports of a suspicious black male with short hair, wearing a white tee-shirt and blue pants knocking on people's doors and handing out vegetarian and PETA magazines.  PETA magazines were found scattered in the back yard of the burglary victim's residence.

Police are asking for information from anyone who had contact with a person giving out vegetarian and PETA magazines.
