Update: Attic Fire Hits Hickory Avenue Home

No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.

Update July 25, 2:30 p.m.: The Sunday evening attic fire in Takoma Park caused $400,000 of structural damage and $200,000 of damage to the contents in the home, Montgomery County Fire said.

Three adults and three children were displaced, but the American Red Cross is assisting in finding them temporary housing.

Original Story: Montgomery County Fire/Rescue responded to 30 Hickory Avenue to heavy fire in the attic area at 5:45 p.m., July 24, said Assistant Chief Scott Graham.

A task force was requested and dispatched, Graham said, adding that the fire was brought under control in approximately 25 minutes.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
