Another Burglary Hits Takoma Park

A String of Nineteen Burglaries Has Hit Takoma Park In the Last Month.

Another burglary occurred in Takoma Park Sept. 4. That's the third one in September and the 19th in just over a month. 

Around 9:16 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 7800 block of Kennewick Avenue for reports of a burglary that had occurred earlier, Takoma Park Police said. Some time between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., the burglar came in through a side bedroom window. The burglars fled through the back door leaving it open. Property was taken, Police said.

Police are upping patrols to try to deal with the problem.

"I have increased marked and unmarked patrols in neighborhoods," Takoma Park Police Chief Ronald Ricucci said. "This is our number one priority."

All of the burglaries have occurred during the day and early evening, said Andrew Gucciardo, Takoma Park Police Crime Analyst.
