Shutdown | Ways to Enjoy and Help the Parks

Rock Creek Conservancy has put together some volunteer and recreational opportunities for you over the next few days in the Montgomery Country section of Rock Creek. These county parks, north of the District line, are unaffected by the federal shutdown. Enjoy the out-of-doors and relieve some stress! All are welcome, furloughed or not, and the events will go forward if the federal government re-opens.

Joseph’s Branch Trash Cleanup
Friday, Oct. 4, 10:00 am to noon
Volunteers will haul out trash from the creek and woodlands along Josephs Branch, a tributary of Rock Creek.

Walk Along Lake Frank
Saturday, Oct. 5, 10:00 am to noon
Explore the headwaters of Rock Creek with a walk around the beautiful Lake Frank. This 3.5-mile loop offers a variety of sights and terrain.

Meadowbrook Trash Cleanup
Monday, Oct. 7, 10:00 am to noon
Help clean up Meadowbrook Park, from East-West Highway to the Rock Creek Park boundary at the Maryland/DC line.
