Great Escape: Color Me Mine

Escape stress while letting your creativity flow

Feeling a need to get in back in touch with your creative side?  Take your mind off the day and de-stress? Or maybe just do something fun and different, with (or without)  friends or family?

Paint your way outside of the box at Color Me Mine.

Color Me Mine is a paint-your-own pottery studio, where you can create alone, take the family, or bring a group of friends for a artful outing. You don't have to worry about making the pottery--that part's already done--but the rest is your call. After choosing an unfinished piece from their selection (mugs, platters, dishes, candle holders, animals, cartoon characters--there's something for everyone), decorate it any way you want. Sketch your own freehand design, use a stencil, or try one of the 22,000 images and ideas in their design center (don't worry, the friendly staff will help you!). Then relax and let your creativity flow while painting your creation with your choice of dozens of colors (they even bring them to you).

When done, leave your handiwork for fire and glazing; and return the next week to pick up your one-of-a-kind artwork. You'll walk out with a self-created "masterpiece."

823 Ellsworth Drive, Silver Spring, 301-565-5105.  Open seven days and evenings. Friends & Family Night on Thursdays ($15 studio fee per table up to 4 painters). A "Princess Tea Party" will be held on the 26th, for ages 4-9 ($30; reservations required).
