Nominations to Honor Volunteers Accepted Through Monday, February 25

Nomination period for Montgomery County awards that honor extraordinary volunteerism is ending in 5 days on Monday, February 25.

Montgomery County Volunteer Center is still accepting nominations for awards recognizing outstanding volunteerism, but only through this Monday, February 25.  The County will be recognizing both seniors (60+ years of age) who have provided a lifetime of service and volunteers of all kinds who accomplished extraordinary volunteer services in 2012.  The nomination categories are:

~ Neal Potter Path of Achievement Awards to residents age 60 and better  for their lifetime of volunteer service to Montgomery County. This annual award is named in memory of former County Councilmember, County Executive, and community activist, Neal Potter.

~ Montgomery Serves Awards to recognize special volunteer accomplishments during the calendar year 2012 in three categories: Youth Service Award (individual youth 18 years and under and/or youth groups), Business Service Award, Community Service Award by an individual, and Community Service Award by a Community Group.

To nominate an individual, business or group, download a nomination form at www.montgomeryserves.org and send to serviceawards@montgomerycountymd.gov no later than 5PM on Monday.  Forms and additional information can also be found by calling the Montgomery
County Volunteer Center at 240-777-2600.  

Winners will be announced in mid-March.  Recipients will be recognized and officially awarded at a public ceremony on Monday evening, April 29 at Imagination Stage in Bethesda. This event is free, but seating will be limited to those who register at www.montgomeryserves.org or 240-777-2600.
