This Veteran’s Day, Locals Can Send Cell Phones, Thanks to Troops

Takoma Park residents can thank veterans and active military service members for their dedication and sacrifice with special video messages produced by AT&T.

As the Washington, DC area honors military servicemembers home this Veteran’s Day and through the holidays, local residents can join AT&T in thanking veterans and active military servicemembers for their dedication and sacrifice.

On Friday, November 9, in honor of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, the AT&T store at 1050 Connecticut Ave NW will host “It’s a Great Day to Love a Veteran” to record video messages of thanks that will be shared nationally via a dedicated YouTube playlist.

Cheryl Henderson, a DC-based Army reserve veteran and AT&T employee who participated at AT&T National will stop by the store to record a video greeting.

Can’t make it to the store? You can send your own thank you video to loveavet@att.com.

Residents can also visit the store to donate new and used devices like cell phones, tablets, and accessories to Cell Phones for Soldiers, a non-profit dedicated to providing deployed and returning troops with cost-free methods to communicate while serving in the military. Before dropping off devices, individuals should remove any SIM card, erase data and restore devices to factory settings.

Ramping up local efforts in and around the nation’s capital to support the troops, AT&T has created online resources for job-seeking veterans as well as active servicemembers, including a Military skills translator that matches military occupational codes with AT&T jobs. The company is also a sponsor of this year’s Luke’s Wings Homecoming Gala this Saturday, November 10 at Reagan National Airport which will support the DC-based non-profit as it provides the families of wounded servicemembers with the means to visit servicemembers during times of hospitalization and rehabilitation.

AT&T has about 50 job openings in the area, including jobs in DC, Maryland and Virginia.
