Montgomery County Perdue Fair Share Campaign Kick-Off Meeting!

Come to the Perdue Fair Share Campaign Kick-Off Meeting to

get involved in this exciting community campaign this fall!

The Chesapeake Bay is the cornerstone of Maryland’s oyster,
crab, and fishing industries, so residents of Maryland have taken it on
themselves to help clean up the bay by contributing a ‘flush tax’ to fund the
Bay Restoration Fund. But Big Chicken companies like Perdue produce 50% of the
waste and do nothing to clean up the mess.

We believe that Perdue should do their fair share to clean
up The Bay.  And the good news is
that Maryland representatives are considering legislation this fall that would
make Perdue pay for their mess. We’re launching an exciting campaign right here
in Montgomery County to make sure Senator Raskin knows how important it is to residents that he continues the great work with his excellent record this fall and support the Poultry Fair Share Act to end Big Chicken’s free ride on pollution in the Bay.

What: Food and Water Watch’s Perdue Fair Share Campaign Kick-Off Meeting

When: Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.

Where: The Heffner Park Community Center, 42 Oswego Ave in
Takoma Park (near the Public Works building)

We'll have guest speakers and refreshments and go more
in-depth on the campaign, and then break down into groups to discuss different
aspects of the campaign. We'll talk about how to raise the visibility of the
issue in the media, plan some big events for the fall, talk about how to build
a strong local coalition, and also how we can reach out to the community to
collect as many postcards as possible before we deliver them in November. The
more people who come, the stronger our campaign!
