Love Ted Talks? Then Come to the TPMS Science Expo Tonight!

Science talks perhaps on a par with Ted Talks! Tonight at TPMS!

If you're a late night TED Talk groupie, seriously consider coming to the Takoma Park Middle School Science Expo tonight!  If you don't have a child who is going to, has gone, or will go to this wonderful science magnet school, bring your inner child who loved science way back when.

First enjoy all of the projects that the students have done, and compliment them they way you wanted your teachers and parents to, then head off to the amazing unstuffy lectures.

If your IC loved sci fi, space travel or is an Orphan of Apollo, check out the talk on Space Tourism by Elizabeth Wallace or the Up Up and Away!  presentation on aeronautical engineering by Stelton Liddell and Captain Steve Holloway.  Don't miss Lisa May's talk on What's Next for Mars.  Students the same age as those today at TPMS could be setting foot.  One small step for Earth, one giant leap for the Solar System!

If your IC played more with a stethoscope than a telescope, explore the unusual military career option of veterinary medicine with Dr. Keith Wiggins or find out what lessons we learned from the Civil War battlefields that help us in the ER today from Clarence Hickey.

If just the words climate change make your IC want to get under the covers, get the facts, not the fiction, from Dr. David Blockstein.  Then take a breath so Rebecca Davis can fill you in on the impact of air quality on human health as well as the environment.

If star gazing in planetariums was your thing since light pollution all but obscured your view of the night sky, then let your IC's imagination soar with the StarryTelling stories created by TPMS students.

But if you're IC still quakes before shaking hands since seeing the film Contagion, then Dr. Keisha Findley's discourse on Microbes will, well, let's see what that does to your phobia.

But if this is all too serious for your happy IC, then check out the Science Comics and imagine yourself again as a super science hero.

Time: 6:30 - 9 pm tonight! Friday, May 11
