Even as social media trends go, Vine—the micro-video blogging iPhone app acquired by Twitter this year—has exploded.
In a blog post announcing the app's availability on Android phones, Twitter said 13 million users have already signed up for the 5-month-old service. About 12 million of those users upload videos regularly, The New York Times reported.
The snippy, immediate nature of Vine—all videos are less than seven seconds in length—are attracting users in the same way that Instagram and Tumblr have snagged attention from longer-form media like Facebook and traditional blogs, The Times noted.
