Photo Gallery: Participants "Walk Their Socks Off" for Shepherd's Table

Walkers donned wacky socks Oct. 20 to support Shepherd's Table and donate socks for the homeless.

About 100 people participated in the 3rd Annual "Walk Your Socks Off" event for Shepherd's Table on Oct. 20. The nonprofit organization partnered with Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School, which is where the walk took place.

Participants of the walk donated socks to Shepherd's Table, an organization that provides aid for the homeless in downtown Silver Spring. Walkers were asked to wear wacky socks and bring new socks to donate. Some of the Shepherd's Table staff judged a Wacky Sock Contest as part of the event.

Students from Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School participate in a work study program in which they work at nonprofits, law firms, colleges, universities, etc., around the area a few times a month to help offset the cost of their tuition. Shepherd's Table is one of the organizations that some of the students work for, and many of them were present at the event to volunteer and participate.
