For delicious, authentic Indian food and a peaceful dining experience, Takoma Park's  (the resulting restaurant from Tiffin's merge with now-closed Udupi Palace) is the place. 

If the stresses of the day are causing you angst, let the polite waitstaff of Tiffin escort you to a cloth-covered table and bring you a cold fresh lime soda or Kingfisher in a frosty glass. As you sip, you'll feel your pulse rate immediately slow but your appetite quicken, thanks to the smell of fragrant spices. 

The restaurant caters to meat/poultry/seafood lovers and vegetarians alike, with a half vegetarian menu. But no flavor is scrimped for either preference - both sides of the menu are equally savory. For lunch go for the luncheon buffet for immediate hunger gratification, and for dinner select from the menu of appetizers and entrees. The entree menu is also available at lunch, and the lunch buffet is available seven days a week ($10 Monday-Friday, $12 on weekends).

The chicken tikka masala is particularly drool-inducing, with its creamy tomato sauce and tender cubes of meat. The vegetarian palak paneer—curried spinach and cheese—is also extremely popular. Both dishes will ensure that no grain of basmati rice or crumb of naan remains, since you will use them to scrape up every last drop of the sauces. 

Entree prices are reasonable for a fine dining experience, about $15. All credit cards are accepted.
