An Accident Waiting to Happen: Old Georgetown Road & Cordell Avenue

Last weekend, I had an illuminating experience at Old Georgetown Road & Cordell Avenue near downtown Bethesda, an intersection that I have long believed to be an accident waiting to happen. My wife and I were traveling in a car southbound in the left lane of Old Georgetown Road. In front of me, at Cordell, two cars were at a standstill.

Hey, I’m Athena! If you’re looking for a sweet, well mannered dog look no further! I’m a very nice dog; I love kids and adults of either sex as well as other dogs. I’m overall friendly and calm. I was complimented as being very easy to walk with on a lease and very relaxed and composed around other dogs, even here at the shelter.

Washington Gas Gives Tickets to Local Breast Cancer Survivors

Those recognized this year to receive the coveted Pink Lady Award for their work in the community regarding breast health awareness and cancer disparities were: Ms. Thelma Jones, survivor, advocate and breast health navigator; Dr. Vanessa Sheppard, Cancer Prevention and Control Scientist and Associate Professor at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University; and Mr. Ahmed Elmi, Community Relations Manager of the Johns Hopkins Center to Reduce Cancer Disparities.

I’m not going to dispute how hard the recession hit government workers.  I see no point in such a debate (and I’m not suggesting that it is even debatable).

1 Point Increase on ACT = $44,000!

It’s a little known secret that four out of five colleges use standardized test scores as a criterion for merit scholarships.  This means that students who score in the top 10 percent of test-takers – around 2000 (out of 2400) on the SAT and 28 (out of 36) on the ACT – can expect to be offered merit scholarships as large as $28,000 a year!
