, a Silver Spring-based pet store, sent out an advisory for a pet food recall Sunday.
The advisory warns pet owners about a voluntary food recall from Diamond Pet Foods (DPF) between Dec. 9, 2011 and April 7, 2012 because of a possible salmonella contamination. Only pet food produced in their South Carolina plant is affected by this recall, according to the advisory.

How do I know if I have a bag affected by the recall?
Turn your bag over and check the production code numbers. If the code has a "2" or "3" in the 9th position and an "X" in the 10th or 11th position, your product is affected by the recall, according to Diamond Pet Recall. If the product you have does not include a "2" or "3" in the 9th position and an "X" in the 10th or 11th position, your product is not affected by the recall, and you can continue to feed it as usual.
For more information on the Diamond pet food recall, call their customer service hotline at 1-866-918-8756. They are open Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
How do I get a refund?
Living Ruff is offering a credit to customers who bring in their receipt and the food with the affected production code. If you don’t have a receipt or a bag, you can obtain credit from the manufacturer.
