"Seoul Food DC opened Monday, and [Anna and John Goree] are still getting used to the different flow of traffic. Now customers can sit down at the counter and chat to the cooks, something they would feel guilty about doing if it meant holding up the long line in front of the food truck at lunchtime, Jon says," Wheaton Patch reported.

Three sides:

Chipotle's Asian-themed spin-off, ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, will open a Bethesda location—at 4820 Bethesda Ave.—in late 2013, and a Rockville location—11800 Rockville Pike—in 2014, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Patch and Rockville Patch reported.

The fast-food restaurant "draws on the unique flavors, ingredients and cooking methods of Southeast Asia, and takes its name from the mid-rise buildings prevalent throughout Southeast Asian cities where hard-working families live in apartments above the ground floor restaurants or markets that they operate," according to a restaurant news release.

This August at North Bethesda Market, Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar expects to open what will be its fourth restaurant nationwide, a spokeswoman for the company told Rockville Patch.

"Paladar specializes in Latin American foods, with a focus on the cuisine of Cuba, the Americas and the Caribbean," Rockville Patch reported.

From Gaithersburg Patch: Buffalo Wild Wings opened in late May at 668 Clopper Rd., Gaithersburg (the location left empty when Chevy's closed in early 2012), The Town Courier reported.

Dessert:

When Patch stopped by Wisconsin Circle last Wednesday to check out the new Sugar & Ice candy shop, the storefront was still shut and dark, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Patch reported.

Sugar & Ice, a modern twist on the classic candy shop, was to open on Sunday, June 2, owner Chris Bennett told Patch at the end of May, when brightly colored "coming soon" signs were taped to the windows of the storefront, which is adjacent to the Frosting bakery.

Blog spotlight:

Churchill High School's student newspaper The Churchill Observer recently blogged on Patch about the opening of a new Chinese restaurant in Rockville:

Although it seems that there is at least one Chinese restaurant per corner on any given street, diners have yet to experience authentic Chinese street market food—until they go to the East Dumpling House [12 N. Washington St., Rockville], which opened in Rockville April 4.

Its dumplings and tofu are handmade, The Observer reported. "We try to bring 100 percent original, authentic Chinese taste [to the table]," co-owner Hong Ren told The Observer.

"The dumpling house is perfect for those who want to grab a quick and inexpensive meal. At the cash register, customers can purchase a smoothie made with real fruit or bubble tea. Take out is also available, and customers can call in advance to place their order," The Observer added.
