"...[We] have made the purposeful decision to officially close our doors and exit on a most high note," the restaurant stated.

The restaurant originally opened in DC, at 1207 E St. NW, in 1922. In the second half of the 20th century, a Bethesda location was opened, and the DC locations (by then there were two) were closed. In 1997, the Gaithersburg location opened for business, and the Bethesda location closed in 2001, according to the restaurant's website.

Bethesda Magazine food editor Carole Sugarman recently visited Silver Spring's 8407 Kitchen Bar, which changed chefs—from Pedro Matamoros to Ed Witt—nearly five months ago.

"I can’t say the food was electrifying," Sugarman wrote in Bethesda Magazine. "Some of it was good. ... But the two entrees I tried lacked polish."

Twenty restaurants in and around Rockville are expected to participate in the 2013 Taste of Rockville, on May 25 and 26. This will be the city's 25th annual Hometown Holidays street festival at Rockville Town Square.

"Among the restaurateurs is Chef Geoff’s, who’ll be serving up ... gourmet tacos and lemonade in the parking lot across from Regal Cinemas," Rockville Patch reported.

Food tickets for Taste of Rockville are $1.25 each, with most menu items costing from one to four tickets.

California Tortilla's fans have voted, and now there's a new option available on the eatery's menu: "Street Tacos."

The new menu item—chosen by CalTort fans in an online NCAA tournament-style "Elito 8" competition last March—will be available for a limited time, starting on May 20, according to a CalTort news statement.

Read more about the new menu item—which is actually a trio of different kinds of tacos—on Bethesda-Chevy Chase Patch.
