Drink Up For the Hungry

The event will feature local cheeses and craft beer.

If you like donating to charity, if you like buying local, if you like beer and if you like cheese, then the Crossroads Farmers Market has an event you might be interested in.

On Oct. 7 fro 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Crossroads Community Food Network is hosting a fundraising event called Hops for the Hungry for their Fresh Checks program. There is a $50 suggested donation and the event will feature a tasting of local beer and cheeses.

The Fresh Checks Program encourages low income residents to use their WIC and SNAP (food stamps) money on fresh food at farmers markets. The other goal of Fresh Checks program is to ensure that farmers who want to sell their produce in low- and moderate-income areas can do so without compromising their bottom line.
