Capital City Cheesecake to Feature Artist Nights

Beer, wine and food will be available.

The folks at Capital City Cheesecake want to put a little more art and music out in Takoma Park so they're starting Fantabulicious Thursdays.

It stands for "fantastic events and performances, fabulous selection of beer and wine and delicious sweets and treats," Co-owner Meaghan Murphy said.  Every Thursday, starting July 21, Capital City Cheesecake will be hosting events and performances of all types. Musicians, poets, authors and artists will be given the platform to express themselves artistically to locals and beyond, Murphy said.

According to Murphy, she had many requests from residents to use the space to feature local art and performance.

"The time slot will vary but they will usually begin at 7:30 p.m. and will go no later than 10 p.m.," she said. "We want to celebrate all the local talent we have among us and believe our space it the perfect place to do it."

The first event will feature Tom Kaufman and Allison Leotta, locals authors who've written best-selling mysteries based in D.C. and Takoma Park. They will be partnering together on July 21, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., to talk about how they came to write the books and how they achieved such success as local authors, Murphy said.
