Bites Nearby: Quarry House Tavern
You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Takoma Park Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice.
Sometimes the perfect date night isn’t all romance and roses, fanciness and fuss. Sometimes the hottest night starts off with a burger, Beastie Boys on the jukebox and beer … lots of it.
After a week in the trenches with the kids and the office, you and your honey do not need to hold hands over a starchy white tablecloth. Cheap wood paneling and acoustic ceiling tiles can actually be an aphrodisiac, along with a pint. Or four.
If you agree, then The Quarry House Tavern is a great get-a-sitter destination. The burgers have been voted in years past the best in the DC metro area by Washington City Paper. As you can tell by checking the menu, the burgers are the Quarry House food focus, along with sandwiches, bar bites and veggie options.

The massive beer list, or Beericulum Vitae, is arguably the best in the DC area and has loads of bottled beers througout the world. The Quarry House rotates a slew of great beers on tap too. (I’ve heard the whiskey selection is also out of this world, but I have not personally tried. As a mom, I have to be able to function the day after I get my drink on)
Live music, usually rockabilly, is on tap every Saturday night and some Fridays in the back room. Often there is no cover charge and beer specials are offered to boot. On nights without a live performance, bring some fresh dollars for the juke.
