Bites Nearby: Jackie's Restaurant

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Silver Spring Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

is the consummate first-date spot — a hip scene that will ease a bit of the pressure from feeling that you must continually converse with your date. It has some of the best people watching in the area, and most importantly, some great tasting eats.

Diana Davila-Boldin, who came on board as executive chef last April, has designed an impressive new American menu featuring local organic ingredients. Be sure to try the truffle fries and pork carnitas tacos, and do yourself a favor and order a few cocktails; Jackie's has hopped on the cocktail renaissance train in full force.

Remember to call ahead for a reservation, as Jackie's gets crowded quickly. But should you forget, the full menu is also available in the bar/lounge area, where it's easier to get seated.

Jackie's is slightly expensive, but reasonable for the quality ($16-$28 an entree), and metered parking is usually easy to come by on the surrounding streets.
