Bites Nearby: Capital City Cheesecake
You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Takoma Park Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice.
Whether you are looking for a birthday party venue or a place to enjoy one of life's everyday celebrations, a great candidate is the cafe in Takoma Park. Located at the old Savory site on Carroll Avenue, it’s owned by sisters Meaghan and Caitlin Murphy -- two women who really know their way around a cheesecake. And muffin. And pizza. Go ahead and drool over the complete menu.
It is a great place to order up a sit-down weekend brunch or dinner, or pop in for a delicious lunch, tea party or afternoon snack. My children and I love to stop in for cookies to turn a regular ol' weekday into a special holiday.
Capital City Cheesecake is also a great spot to visit solo with your laptop and get in some work or websurfing, thanks to the free WiFi and out-of-this-world cofee.

If you are a parent, Capital City Cheesecake is also that blessed type of location that so many of us search for: a new place to have our kids’ birthday parties. Their My Little Bake Parties are hosted on-site at the shop by trained staff and are hands-on, educational and yummy. You can choose from several party activities, such as decorating pizzas and/or cookies. The kids get aprons, chef hats and of course, get to eat their creations.
