Van Hollen Calls For Artists

Your artwork could be seen at the U.S. Capitol Building.

If you go to high school in Congressman Chris Van Hollen's (D-Dist. 8) district and are handy with a paintbrush, you might see your work in the U.S. Capitol Building soon.

Van Hollen, whose district includes Takoma Park, has opened the 30th annual Congressional Art Competition for submissions. The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and runners-up will be displayed in Congressman Van Hollen’s congressional offices.  A juried exhibition of around 90 pieces of the submitted artwork will be on display at VisArts at Rockville from April 6 to May 4.

If interested, complete and submit an entry form at www.vanhollen.house.gov or by calling 301-424-3501.  Entry forms need to be signed by the student, a parent or guardian and a faculty member and faxed to the Congressman’s office at 301-424-5992 or emailed toKaren.McManus@mail.house.gov by Friday, Mar. 25.
