Takoma Park Street Fest Tops Weekend Things To Do

Thursday's installment of the The Takoma Park Five features everything great about the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be sunny and in the mid-60s. Bring on that autumn weather.

1. Takoma Park Street Festival

Why? You shouldn't have to ask this. It's one of the big three, which also includes the Takoma Park Folk Festival and the Fourth of July Parade. This Sunday there will be music, street vendors and things to do for both kids and adults. Everyone will be there, so take the chance to mingle with other Takoma Parkers. 

2. Green Homes Tour

Why? This Saturday is the yearly Takoma Park green homes tour. It's supposed to be a beautiful day so why not spend it strolling around touring the greenest homes in the City?

3. Takoma Park Farmers Market

Why? This will likely be on the list every week. If you're at the street fest Sunday, you should amble on over to farmers market and pick up some fresh produce for dinner.

4. Maryland Renaissance Festival

Why? It may not be in Takoma Park, but sometimes we need to get out of Takoma Park...you know...to reflect on how much we love it. So head up to the MD Renn Fest for a turkey leg and a Scotch egg. Dress up or not, it's a lot of fun.

5. DC Roller Girls Season Opener

Why? If you want to head into the District this weekend check out the DC Rollergirls season five opening bout. It's Saturday at 4 p.m. at the D.C. Armory.
