Latest Installment of We Are Takoma Series to be Staged Friday
Maria just wants to live her own life.
If you're looking for something free to do Friday night Takoma Park will be featuring it's latest installment in the We Are Takoma series.
"Lesbians and the Men Who Love Them: How Maria Came In," by M. Christine Garcia will run at 7:30 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium.
In the play, woman from Maria Alvarez's tradition Latino world tend to leave home either married or in a coffin, but Maria leaves to go to college. She becomes a lesbian activist until she meets Joe and starts a romance. Maria, however, must keep the romance underground. Everywhere Maria turns, someone wants to define how she is supposed to live her life.
