Five Things You Need to Know: June 6

It's Monday and we're here to kick off a daily column that will feature five things you need to know each day. So let's get to it.

1. According to the National Weather Service, it's going to be really hot all week. Most days will hit the mid 90s, but showers Friday will cool off Takoma Park for the weekend.

2. The Takoma Park Jazz Festival was Sunday, so if you missed it, check out our coverage .

3. Tonight, he council of who is going to be responsible for Rt. 410 in Takoma Park, the city or the State Highway Administration. Residents want the city to keep it, but the council is still weighing its options.

4. The plane that Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger famously landed in the Hudson River is finally making its way to its original destination of Charlotte, N.C., albeit by road, not air. You can track the plane's progress on this website.

5. Capital City Cheesecake will be hosting artist nights every Thursday starting July 21. The nights will feature wine and a performer, writer or artist showcasing his or her work. Check back this week for a full story on CCC's plans.
