Starry Nights in Old Takoma

Join Takoma Park residents at the 2nd Annual Starry Nights Celebration at the junction of Laurel and Carroll Avenues under the clock tower.

  • Astronomer Harold Williams of the Montgomery College Planetarium will bring his telescopes to share the night sky with us.
  • Judith Webb of MoonShadow will enthrall us with StarryTelling from around the world at Roda Movements. 6:30 pm
  • Make starry masks and necklaces at Summer Delights.  Buy a hot cup of cocoa from Greg, aka the Big Dipper.
  • Start your StarScavenger Hunt for fallen stars in over 20 stores.  Take your time though, you have a week!  Browse and find children's budget friendly items for friends, relatives and teachers.
  • Read an ancient  Korean love star story while you sup at Mark's Kitchen.  Discover the origin of western astronomy at the Middle East Kitchen.
  • If you find the stars at 15 stores or more, you win a ticket to a planetarium show on Jan 2 at the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange.    RSVP or buy a ticket at:
