Mandolin & Guitar Workshops with Orrin Star

You've got the books and tabs, play some fiddle tunes and song leads -- now what? How about an intimate workshop with a master teacher devoted to diagnosing your playing and offering detailed feedback? Using both group and individual exercises we will spend our time interacting and will cover things that you indeed cannot get from tablature: soloing on the fly, subtleties of technique and tone, rhythm playing, and using vocal accents to enhance solos.

  • For all beyond beginner level players
  • Non-video recording devices welcome
  • Limited to 10 participants
  • No prerequisites

Orrin Star is an award-winning guitar, banjo and mandolin player who is also recognized as a top bluegrass instructor. The 1976 National Flatpicking Champion, he is the author of Hot Licks For Bluegrass Guitar and a columnist for Flatpicking Guitar magazine. For more info, see orrinstar.com.

Mandolin class will be on October 16, Guitar class on October 30.
