Lions Look for Outsanding Dogs in Takoma Park

Who's a good dog? You are. You are!

Who has the best dog in Takoma Park? The Takoma Park Lions Club aims to find out with an amateur dog contest open to city residents, according to the Gazette.

Funds raised by the contest, which costs $15 to enter (free for spectators, though), will help the International Association of Lions Clubs' Leader Dog Program, which helps pair guide dogs with visually impaired and blind people. The event is 10 a.m. this Saturday, at Lee Jordan Field at Takoma Park Middle School.

This is no Kennel Club dog show, but instead a lighthearted affair highlighting the remarkable abilities of our canine pals. Dogs will compete for first, second and third prizes in events like dog-owner look-alike, fastest wagging tail, loudest bark on command, and best costume, among others.
