Bring your animals, large and small, to the Franciscan Monastery for the traditional Blessing of the Animals by the Franciscan friars.
People of all faiths are welcome. Each pet receives a pet medal, a small scroll with the text of the blessing and a copy of the story of St. Francis.
The blessing is held annually on or near St. Francis' feast day, which is Oct. 4 in honor of this patron saint of animals and the environment.
