Portion of $750k NY Life Grant to Support Washington, D.C. Children through the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing
The New York Life Foundation today announced that the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing in Washington, D.C. has been awarded a portion of a $750,000 grant to support organizations serving grieving children across the country. The grants will be distributed to 20 organizations over a two year period and range from $10,000 to $100,000.
The winning providers, which include organizations in California, Florida, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington, D.C., all responded to a request for proposals created through a partnership between the New York Life Foundation and the National Alliance for Grieving Children (NAGC). This is the third year of the Foundation’s Grief Reach Program where support is given to grief providers to expand their services to reach diverse and disadvantaged youth across the country.
“Extending our partnership with the New York Life Foundation for the third year illustrates there is more work to be done to increase the opportunity for underserved youth to have access to the services they need to begin to heal after the loss of a loved one,” said Andy McNiel, executive director, NAGC. “We are pleased that we are also raising awareness of the need for more education and services for those affected by loss in the process.”
