Hospital Provides Free Screening Mammograms, Clinical Breast Exams and Bra Fittings

Doctors Community Hospital’s Center for Comprehensive Breast Care, in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, will host its second annual Breast Cancer Screening Awareness Event on October 17 in celebration of breast cancer awareness month.   At this festive event, insured and uninsured women will have access to free screening mammograms, clinical breast exams and bra fittings – all focused on educating participants about the importance of early breast cancer detection and overall breast care.  Doctors Community Hospital was the first organization in Prince George’s County to receive a $1 million grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in 2012 for screenings.

With both scheduled and walk-in appointments welcomed, women who have not had a mammogram within a year or more can receive:

The Breast Cancer Screening Awareness Event is on October 17 at Doctors Community Hospital’s Center for Comprehensive Breast Care located at 8116 Good Luck Road, Professional Office Building, Suite 110, Lanham, Maryland 20706.

As the first comprehensive breast center in Prince George’s County, Doctors Community Hospital performed hundreds of breast screenings last October and had about 125 people attend its Breast Cancer Screening Awareness Event last year.  With funding from sponsors Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, CareFirst and Pfizer Health Care Charitable Program, Doctors Community Hospital can provide more screenings to uninsured women in Prince George’s County this year.  Also, the Prince George’s County Health Department is an event partner.
