A Brighter Today, a Giving Campaign and Apple Juice the Adult Way

(Huh? That’s not our usual Wednesday greeting. Wait for it. Read on.)

Here’s a look at some of the things you need to know to be in the know in Takoma Park today:

1. It’s Gonna Be a (Mostly) Bright Sunshiny Day … at least, according to the National Weather Service. Look all around, there’ll be nothing but (mostly) blue sky—and a high of 80.

2. ICYMI: More Victims?: Police say a music teacher arrested on child pornography charges also abused students in a classroom at a Silver Spring school.

3. I’m Still Not Quite Sure What This Is: But it’s happening at Freedom Plaza on Saturday. And it sounds like it’s for a good cause. (I think?) Anyone who can help bring me up to speed on the Color Mob Music and Giving Festival or the I Am Nation Campaign, please leave a comment below.

4. This Cider House Rules!: Great Shoals is a winery along the banks of the Wicomico River in Somerset County. They use apples from Heyser Farms, just up New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. If you visit Heyser Farms, you can taste the (fermented) fruits of their labor.

5. Fair-ly Certain This Gal is Happy Today: The 65th Montgomery County Agricultural Fair continues today through Saturday in Gaithersburg. Haven’t been to the fair yet? See all the food, fun and animals you’ve been missing, including one animal that’s probably having a pretty good day. (See? Reading all the way through has its rewards. Woot! Woooot!)
