DESCRIPTION:The 39th Annual Takoma Park House and Garden Tour showcases a
  dozen houses in North Takoma\, ranging from an 1887 Victorian to a mode
 rn bungalow built in 2000. Previous residents include Frederick Douglass
 's daughter\, mystery writer Martha Grimes\, and azalea specialist Frede
 rick Meyer. As an added bonus the contractors involved in renovating the
  houses will be on hand at several homes to answer your questions. The s
 elf guided tour runs rain or shine. &nbsp\;Advance tickets ($18) are ava
 ilable from local merchants or online at historictakoma.org. On Tour Day
 \, tickets ($20) are available at Upper Portal Park\, Eastern and Piney 
 Branch\, along with tour brochures listing the house locations.
