April 6: Rock Creek Cleanup. Time to Take out the Trash!

Last year, more than 14,000 volunteers across five states hauled 262 tons of trash out of the Potomac watershed during this annual cleanup.

You can choose from over 40 sites along Rock Creek alone (see map at Rock Creek Conservancy). Here are two great ones near East-West Highway:

WhereMeadowbrook Park (gather by Activity Bldg.) OR

Ray's Meadow Park (North of East-West Highway, gather by playground)

Click on a site—Meadowbrook or Ray's—to see registration page, which includes directions, parking and more details.

How: Walk-ins are welcome, but registering in advance helps everything go more smoothly on clean-up day.

Other details: Supervised children and pets always welcome. SSL credits available. At Ray's Meadow, some volunteers will pick up trash while others will pull Garlic Mustard, a noxious alien invasive plant. No experience necessary!
