There is a significant chance of thunderstorms and high winds in Takoma Park starting around 4 p.m., according to a National Weather Service alert.

"Residents and business owners should secure loose objects on their property including trash receptacles, recycling bins and patio furniture, to prevent items from being tossed about and causing damage to other property," according to a news release by Takoma Park Police.
