D.C. Restaurant Week takes you through most of the summer doldrums -- all the way to Sunday, Aug. 19.
If you're going just over the border or all the way to Georgetown, dozens of eateries have deals throughout the Washington metropolitan area.
The familiar prix-fixe menus will be offered at affordable rates: $20.12 for lunch and $35.12 for dinner for a three-course meal (excluding beverage, tax and gratuity).

On my limited income I don't think $20.12 for lunch or $35.12 for dinner is "affordable" but I'm happy that many will be able to partake.

I totally get that!! I guess these are affordable only if you compare the usual prices at these particular restaurants!

Capitol Grille in Friendship Heights is participating as well, even though they're on the Chevy Chase side of the border. Had a great dinner there on Monday.
And regarding affordable, that's kind of the point. It's essentially a sale on a place that's otherwise charging you $30 and up for an entree. Sure , there are places that have less than four $'s on OpenTable participating, but I feel like more people take advantage of that to get some special menu item than to just get a discount.
So yeah, it's not affordable in the way of say, Applebees, but it is a way to bring some 1%'er type places down to the level of everyone else for a week. It's also a lot better than Applebees[0].
And as a bonus, a lot of the really pretentious foodie types avoid Restaurant Week like the plague, so you don't have to deal with them.
[0] I'm much more of a Chili's kind of guy myself, when I want a standard American suburban chain.

Here's the full list. Note there's at least one MD restaurant, Jaleo in Bethesda, also participating along with its sister in D.C. I ate there recently and it was as good as always.
