Takoma Park to Celebrate Veg Week

The mayor and four councilmembers will go vegetarian for a week.

With the swipe of a pen, Takoma Park Mayor Bruce Williams signed of on Veg Week, a week long event from April 23-29 promoting vegetarianism.

Williams and Councilmembers Terry Seamens, Kay Daniels-Cohen, Seth Grimes and Fred Schultz will go veg for a week to encourage residents to “choose vegetarian foods as way to help protect the planet, their health, and animals.”

The event is part of the nationwide U.S. Veg Week. Other area politicians who are taking the Veg Pledge include Maryland Delegates Tom Hucker, Aruna Miller, and Shane Robinson, Montgomery County County Councilwoman Valerie Ervin, District Heights Mayor James Wall and Prince George’s County Councilman Eric Olson.
