Takoma Park Residents Push for Overnight Parking
The issue will be addressed in a pubic hearing Monday night.
Takoma Park residents in the New Hampshire Estates area are set to voice their concerns and push for paid overnight parking in their neighborhood.
The issue will be addressed in a public hearing Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. inside the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium located at 7500 Maple Ave.
The push for paid parking arose after residents noticed lack of available street parking due to use by residents in a nearby apartment complex, events hosted by Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, littering issues caused by non-residents, and instances of driveways being blocked by vehicles.
The blocks and streets that would be affected include: 7300-7500 blocks of New Hampshire Avenue (west side of New Hampshire Avenue along the "service road"), 1100 and 1200 blocks of Merwood Drive, 7300-7500 blocks of Wildwood Drive, and 1200 block of Kingwood Drive.
Residents who are petitioning are requesting that there be paid parking between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., daily.
What do you think? Should there be paid parking?
