Takoma Park Police Seek Funds to Continue Research Position

The funds would come to $11,159.

Takoma Park Police are seeking federal funds to continue its Research and Policy Development position within the police department, police spokeswoman Catherine Plevy said.

The funds would come from the U.S. Dept. of Justice under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (BJAG) program, she said. The funding amount sought in the grant program is $11,159.

The position researches new procedures, equipment and tactics, Plevy said. The employee reviews existing policies and revises them as needed, as well as develops new policies and procedures for emerging issues affecting the agency.

A public comment period of 30 days is being provided prior to any obligations of payment under the program.  Comments should be forwarded to:
