Should Redskins Fans Back the Ravens in the Super Bowl?
At least one Washington Post writer thinks so.
As the Ravens prepare to face the 49ers in Sunday's Super Bowl—and with the Redskins having long since begun their own off-season—Washington fans are once again faced with a conundrum: should they back Baltimore?
It's a question many Washingtonians confronted in recent seasons as the Ravens racked up four playoff appearances to the Redskins' none. But with the arrival of rookie sensation Robert Griffin III and the team's first signs of postseason life since 2007, has the calculus changed?
For one Washington Post writer, the answer is still simple: Hail to the Ravens.
Craig Timberg, an admitted Baltimore fan, says it's a no-brainer given the Ravens' many parallels to the Lombardi-winning Redskins clubs of yore: a stout defense, a great coach, an underappreciated quarterback, and—most of all—superb team chemistry that allows the whole to be more than the sum of its parts.
"Hop on the purple-and-black bandwagon for the final leg of a miraculous Super Bowl run," Timberg writes.

As a lifelong Redskin fan and a lifelong resident of Maryland of course I'll jump on the purple and black bandwagon just like I hope all Ravens fans will do next year when the Redskins are in the Super Bowl. A true Redskin fan knows the Skins have only 1 real rival the dreaded Dallas Cowboys. So for Super Bowl Sunday 2013 I will be sporting my best black and purple and cheering on my other home town team! HTTR Hail to the Redskins and this week Hail to the Ravens!

How could any Redskin fan support the Ravens? Haloti Ngata struck the blow to RGlll's knee. They are dirty players that Roger Goodell took a payoff to get to the SuperBowl (FraudBowl). Please everyone stand up against the Ravens. Support the Skins and realize what happened!

As a lifetime Maryland resident, I can honestly state that I do not like the Ravens. I cannot support or cheer for a team that won a championship years ago, yet failed to score a touchdown in half of their football games. Knowing that (boring) defense often wins championships, I love OFFENSE, and can hardly wait for the Redskins to open up their offense with all of those great wideouts they have. Remember "Air Coryell" and the San Diego Chargers? That was exciting football. For years I have referred to the Ravens as "Suggs & Thugs", and could never chher for a team with a middle (as in murderous) linebacker like Ray Lewis, regardless of how great a football player he may be. He'll never be a champion in my book, and I look forward to not seeing his antics or hearing about how great he is every time I watch a game. Even with Carlos (Butterfingers) Rogers in the secondary for the 49ers, I'll be pulling for them to humiliate the Ravens, so that Lewis goes out a loser, much like OJ has.

It is difficult to root for the Ravens, even though my brother and son have jumped to the Ravens. My daughter and her boyfriend won't. Just watch the video (below).

As a born and raised Baltimorean and inagural Ravens season tickets holder and Chevy Chase resident, yes thats my Ray Lewis fathead in my front yard on Brookville Rd, I say welcome to Ravens Nation. Just one request, please no Hail to the Ravens. Sing the 7 Man Army song, talk about Rays last ride, yell Go Ravens, but please no Hail.

Born in D.C., grew up in Rockville...still here. I can't seem to "latch" onto the Ravens. I believe the "true" Baltimore team has a horseshoe on it's helmet and plays in Indianapolis.
I'm just hoping for a watchable game and maybe win a few bucks in the mulititude of pools I'm in.....and oh yes.....funny commercials.

I've been a Minnesota Vikings fan for 40 years and I've never lived there. Since I've lived in the area for almost 30 years, I can still support the area's teams....whether it's the Redskins, the Ravens, the Nationals, the Orioles or the Capitals. That being said, I'm going with the purple and black, for the TEAM, not a particular PLAYER.

I think everyone is free to choose. I can't seem to root for a team that got started when I was an adult. Local or not. I've been a skins fan and liked the broncos and 49ers as secondary teams since I was a kid. The Ravens fans that I know seem to like treating almost every team with the same contempt as they treat the Steelers. Some even rejoiced when RGIII got hurt against them. Completely Unnecessary and Tacky.

I was born in Baltimore and spent most of my life in the Towson area. My wife and I only recently moved to Hyattsville. I am, and will continue to be a hard core Ravens fan (as my car and banner on my front porch attest to) That said I was excited to see the Redskins do so well this year. What a great thing for Maryland to have two of their teams in the playoffs... Seeing that the Ravens and Redskins play each other so infrequently why not root for both... I have do

Also wanted to address the view that the Ravens are Thugs.... this could not be further from the truth. The Ravens players are beloved in Baltimore... in large part due to the multitude of charitable works they do.... particularly for inner city kids... from Ed Reed's football camps to mentoring programs, to the Ray lewis Family Foundation...
The Ravens play hard not dirty... And while they hate the Steelers and have a lesser rivalry with NE.... they don't hate or disrespect other teams.... in fact they are generally viewed as the underdog in the media.. and in interviews are very gracious to their opponents . If you want to learn more about the players watch some of their interviews on the Ravens.com website... you might change your minds !

Root, root, root for the home team. The Redskins will always be my favorite team and I'm excited about the enthusiasm and energy RGIII brings to the team. This was not our year. I am happy for all the Raven's fans and will be rooting for their team Sunday. Bring me some peanuts and cracker Jacks!

Murder charges were dropped against Ray Lewis after the witnesses were interviewed ( he was reportedly sitting in a limo with a woman when the stabbings took place outside)
He became a witness for the prosecution against the two that did the stabbings. He was charged with obstruction for reportedly telling the others not to say anything after they jumped into the limo and initially lied to the police... He pleaded guilty to those charges...
